Create surveys with Google Forms

Tutorial & comparison

Google Forms

1

Open Google Forms

Use Google Forms to conduct surveys with the help of Google. On the Google Forms web page, click the button To Google Forms. If you don't have an account yet, you have to register first and then switch to Google Forms.
2

Change survey title

Once the application opens, you will see an untitled form - in the image: Untitled form. Click on the heading to highlight it and rename it.
3

Edit survey form

A blank question element is already added to the survey form. With one click you can change the question Untitled Question and the existing answer Option 1. To add another answer click Add option. To change the question type of the element you can use the drop-down menu - see the picture. Checkboxes means that a survey participant can select more than one answer. I.e. a participant could vote for the answer Today together with the answer Tomorrow.
4

Share survey

To share or send the survey to survey takers, click the paper flyer in the upper right corner.
5

Copy participation link

Switch to the middle tab and click on Copy to copy the participation link. You can paste the link in chat applications, emails, social media posts, etc. The survey form can be accessed by visiting the participation link.
6

Evaluate survey results

Under the tab Responses survey results can be evaluated. All data is updated in real time.

Disadvantages

  • A Google account is required, which must be logged into in advance.
  • The mobile use is cumbersome. Editing the elements and moving the position does not always work.
  • Google Forms is only available in English. If you want to see the controls in another language, we recommend using Google Translator in the browser.
  • Plain text items are not offered.
  • The survey form from the participant's point of view is overloaded with references such as that to log in to Google, that present content does not originate from Google or that passwords should never be passed via Google Forms. At the end of the form, a link promotes Google Forms.
